The only way to travel is to fly to Kushok Bakula Rimpochi Airport located in Leh. It is just 4 km away from the main city. The airport is well connected to Delhi and also receives flights from Mumbai, Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh and other general destinations in India. Even international travellers can fly directly from major cities like Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi.

Trek Terms
Altitude: 3250 metres
Drive: 4 to 5 Hrs
Trek: 2 to 3 hrs
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lamayuru. On the way, you will visit Liker
and Alchi Monasteries. You will arrive Lamayuru by noon, visit the Monastery and
then drive to Wanla. Your overnight camp will be in Wanla.
Day 1: Leh to Lamayuru to Wanla
Altitude: 3970 metres
Trek: 6 to 7 Hrs
You will cross the river stream and walk along the eastward road. Your route will split
into two, one goes towards Alchi and the other towards Sumda Chenmo. Once you
cross the bridge, the trail enters into Hanupatta gorge. It is a challenging trail along
rocky steep with the stream below. You will pass by a stupa to a narrow valley. After
an easy ascent, you will reach The Hanupatta.
Day 2: Wanla to Hanupatta
Altitude: 4050 metres
You will walk along the stream and cross the tributaries. Proceed walking up to Sirsir
la situated at an altitude of 4850 metres. Walk along the stream, which leads to the
Photoksar village. Your campsite will be right before the village across the stream.
Day 3: Hanupatta to Photoksar
Altitude: 4300 metres
Trek: 8 Hrs
From the village, walk down the stream on your left. You will find few herder’s
shelters. From there, you will cross the stream that goes into the trail leading you to
the base. Here is where you will put your tent and rest for the day.
Day 4: Photksar to SingayLa base
Altitude: 3950m
Trek: 5 to 6 hrs
Start your day by ascending to Singay La situated at an altitude of 5050 metres. You
will walk down the pass and the trail on your left goes to towards Yulchung Nerags. If
you take the right trail, you reach Kyukpa la located at an altitude of 4430 metres.
Take the right trail from Kyukpa la and reach a hamlet. You will cross the stream and
hike to Margo la (4500 metres). Once you descend from the pass, you will reach the
Lingshet village. Your campsite will be near the school. The monastery is located
above Lingshet village.
Day 5: Singayla base to Lingshet
Altitude: 3800 metres
Trek: 8 hrs
You will walk down the stream through the fields. Once you cross the stream, it will
be an easy ascent. You will reach Hanuma la located at an altitude of 4800 metres.
From there, you can have a good view of Lingshet village. To reach the campsite,
walk down along the stream. You will stay overnight in Snyertse.
Day 6: Lingshet to Snyertse
Altitude: 3450 metres
Trek: 6 Hrs
You will continue trekking by crossing the stream. There will be a curve after which
you will walk up to the stream. Then, you will cross the bridge and ascend steeply to
reach Parfi la (3950 metres). You will walk down to the Zangskar River. The trail
leads along the river till Hanamur. Besides the field, you will have the campsite in
Hanamur.
Day 7: Snyertse to Hanamur
Trek: 4 to 5 Hrs
You will walk along the Zanskar River that passes through Pidmo. Your overnight
stay will be in the camp.
Day 8: Hanamur to Pishu
Altitude: 3650 metres
Trek: 4 hrs
Take the path along the Zanskar River towards Karsha, which passes through
Rinam village. The camp is located near the stream and below the monastery. You
can explore the village beauty by visiting Karsha monastery. Your overnight stay will
be in tents.
Day 9: Pishu to Karsha
Altitude: 3610 metres
Trek: 2 Hrs
Cross the river and walk towards Padum. On the way in Pibithing village, you can
check out some religious monuments. You can visit Sani and Stakrimo monasteries
in Padum village. You will stay in a hotel overnight.
Day 10: Karsha to Padum
Drive: 9 to 10 Hrs
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Kargil via Penze La. You will stay overnight
stay in a hotel at Kargil.
Day 11: Padum to Kargil
Drive: 6 to 7 Hrs
You will have your breakfast and drive to Leh. Your trek ends here.
Day 12: Kargil to Leh
Itinerary
Lamayuru to Padum is a challenging trek that tests a seasoned trekker’s endurance
level. The trek starts from Lamayuru towards Wanla and ends at Padum from where
we drive to Leh. The main focus of this trek is high mountain Passes covering
several villages on the way. The ideal time for this trek is mid-June to September.
