Mount Kun is located in Suru Valley in a beautiful landscape of Zanskar. It is part of the twin-summit mountains Nun-Kun offering an outstanding trekking experience for avid travellers. Mount Kun expedition offers a great opportunityto climb one of the highest peaks of Jammu and Kashmir (7077 m). During this breathtaking journey, you will alsovisit century-old monasteries and some quaint villages.

  • You will arrive in Delhi and check-in at the hotel. After lunch, you will have to mandatorily visit Indian\nMountaineering Foundation (IMF) for a briefing. You can also rent essential equipment from the IMF at a nominal\nfee. You will stay overnight in Delhi.

  • Altitude: 3500 m\nYou will fly from Delhi to Leh in an early morning flight. Leh is a high altitude region, you must get acclimatized to its\nclimate for a challenging trek. You can spend your day for acclimatization. Overnight stay will be in Leh.

  • Today, you will spend time to get acclimatized to Leh’s climate and do local sightseeing. You can visit Leh’s Old Town\nthat is dominated by the ancient Leh Palace. You can also check out the ancient Buddhist monasteries around Leh\nlike Thikse, Namgyal Tsemo, Hemis, and Sangam and Hemis. These are perfect places to find some inner peace and\nrelaxation.

  • Matho chu (3800m)\nYou will start early from Leh and drive to Matho Village. There’s a beautiful monastery and it is the start point of the\ntrek. You will walk for about 2 to 3 hrs to the campsite beside Mathu Chu River. TO get acclimatized, you will camp at\na lower altitude. Overnight camping will be at Matho Chu.

  • Gangpoche (4400m)\nYou will hike up to Matho Chu till you reach a fork. Then, you will take the trail on the right and climb until you reach\na high point. It will take about 5 to 6 hours to trek to Gangpoche, which is near the shepherd huts. You will camp in\nthe camping ground below the hill. Overnight camp will be at Gangpoche.

  • Mankarmo (4350m)\nThis will be an easy day with a gradual ascent of around 3 hours to Matho La. You will then steeply descend on a trail\nto Mankarmo, which has a big parachute cafe. You can spot wild mountain goats on this trail. You will also have a\nsight of Stok Kangri peak. Overnight camp will be at Mankarmo.

  • Stok Kangri Base Camp (4975m)\nYou will be on the trail that connects the Stok village to the base camp. Today’s trek will be for about 3 to 4 hours.\nThe base camp is a short stroll from here at a substantial altitude. You will camp at Stok Kangri base camp.

  • Trek to Stok village and drive to Leh\nDuration: 6 - 7 hrs trek, 1-hour drive\nYou will exit out of the Stok valley at Stok village. Then it is an hour drive to Leh. Overnight stay will be in a hotel.

  • Kargil (2800m)\nYou will have a leisure drive for about 6 to 7 hours to the Indus valley. In between, you will stop by popular\nsightseeing points. You will see Nimu, Alchi monastery & Lamayuru monastery during the day. Overnight stay will be\nin a hotel at Kargil.

  • Shafat (3650m)\nYou will get the first vision of the Nun-Kun peaks during the drive by the Suru River. After a 4-hour drive, you will\nreach Shafat and camp overnight there.

  • Base Camp (4300m)\nYou will team up to organise your gears for the climb and that would be transported to the Base Camp. You will walk\nthrough meadows and on moraine crossing the Shafat glacier to the Base Camp. Overnight camp will be at the base\ncamp.

  • Base Camp (4300m)\nYou will follow the Shafat glacier that leads to Advance Base Camp. Then you will return to base camp and stay in the\ncamps overnight.

  • From day 13 to day 22, you will be camping in three different locations. Your three base camps will be at an altitude\nof 5300m, 6000m, and 6272m. These ten days involve strenuous hiking through challenging ascends and hence you\nare required to stay hydrated during this climbing period.

  • From the base camp, you will trek back to Shafat. Your overnight camp will be at Shafat.

  • Drive from Shafat to Leh\nYou will take a long drive for about 10 to 12 hours from Shafat and return to Leh. Overnight stay will be in a hotel in\nLeh.

  • This is a buffer day at Leh in case of any contingencies or unforeseen delays.

  • You will take the early morning flight from Leh to Delhi. You will visit the Indian Mountaineering Foundation for the\nmandatory debriefing of the expedition.

  • Your trek ends here and you will fly back home.
